The Longhorns have added SMU offensive lineman Paris Patterson Jr. via the transfer portal.
Patterson's Background
Patterson is a 6-foot-5, 323-pound rising redshirt junior with two years of eligibility remaining. He began his career at Arkansas, redshirting his first and only year there, before transferring to SMU ahead of the 2024 season. He comes to Austin from East St. Louis, Illinois. As a high school prospect in the 2023 class, he was considered a three-star recruit, ranked as the No. 40 interior offensive lineman nationally and the No. 8 overall prospect in Illinois.
Playing Experience
Patterson chose Arkansas over Iowa State, Kansas, LSU, Nebraska, and Tennessee. He later signed with SMU over Colorado during the April 2024 spring portal window. In 2024, Patterson played in seven games for the Mustangs, totaling 30 snaps, with the majority on special teams. His most active season was 2025 when he appeared in 11 games, recording 70 total snaps, including 21 on offense. Patterson has 100 career snaps across 18 appearances. All 23 of his career offensive snaps were at left guard.
Transfer Portal Additions
Patterson is the 20th transfer portal addition for the Longhorns this offseason. He is the fifth offensive line transfer, joining Oregon State OG Dylan Sikorski, Texas A&M OT Jonte Newman, and Wake Forest OT Melvin Siani, and Western.
