Aidan King delivered a stellar performance in Florida's 2-0 victory against Ole Miss, leveling the series and setting up a crucial rubber match. The sophomore pitcher's strong outing came after Liam Peterson's struggles in the series opener.
King pitched the longest outing by any Florida starting pitcher this season. Coach Kevin O'Sullivan noted that King's performance was crucial, especially knowing the quality of the opposing pitcher. King outdueled Elliot, who was removed after four innings.
King's fastball velocity was 92-93, but his command of the plate, along with his changeup and slider, kept Ole Miss off balance. He pitched seven shutout innings, allowing only four hits and striking out eight. He retired 15 of the last 17 batters he faced, including a seventh inning highlight featuring a catch by Blake Cyr.
